The Good News About Jesus Christ
Life Church is made up of people who have decided to follow Jesus Christ. We follow him not only because of who he is, but also because of what he has done – both for us and for others. We want you to have an opportunity to read about Jesus and why he is good news for the whole world.
Jesus of Nazareth was a prophet who announced to the Jews of 1st century Palestine that the God of Israel was fulfilling his ancient promise to establish his Kingdom (Deuteronomy 30:1-10). Jesus was the embodiment of God’s plan to reclaim our broken world. He was rejected by his people, crucified by the Romans and rose from the dead three days later. Jesus’ resurrection was God’s confirmation that he was not only Messiah or Christ (i.e. Israel’s “anointed one” or King), but also Lord (i.e. the world’s true and rightful ruler).
In Jesus the following four things happen:
Jesus chose disciples to follow him as he modeled God’s Kingdom for the world to see. These same disciples were witnesses to his resurrection and spread his message of the Kingdom of God to new generations of followers throughout the word.
